Hello and Happy New Year from all of us at

The new year brings with it new opportunities to make a stand for nature and sustainability in our local area.

If your New Year’s Resolution is to live a greener lifestyle in 2023, in this newsletter we’ve got some great first steps you can take.

Volunteer to Plant Hedges at Woodoaks Farm

This January Woodoaks Farm hedge planting is BACK and they would love your help over the next couple of weeks to get another 750 metres into the ground!

Sessions are from 10am - 12pm and 1 - 3pm on

Friday 13th January
Wednesday 18th January
Thursday 19th January and
Friday 20th January

There are 3600 whips to get in the ground, covering 750 metres of hedgerow, so Woodoaks would love as much help as possible.

Hedgerows are important because they provide food and shelter for many species. As they often link small woods, they are essential corridors along which wildlife can travel.

Have Your Say on the Council’s Draft Nature Recovery Strategy

Three Rivers District Council has produced a draft Nature Recovery Strategy which specifically address the Council’s approach to protection of the natural world within the District.

The strategy includes a 5-year Action Plan, which identifies and prioritises actions to be undertaken by the Council, and others for the benefit of biodiversity. 

The Council is inviting comments on the strategy, which you can see by clicking the link below. You will then be able to complete a short survey.

It is important that as many of us as possible respond so the Council appreciates the value local residents place on the natural world and its recovery.

The closing date for the consultation is:
Sunday 22nd January 2023 at 11pm.

Whether or not you have decided to try cutting it out altogether, or are just cutting back, consuming less meat and dairy is a smart move for the planet.
