Moor Park Eco Group Brings Festive Fun and Inspiration
A small group of enthusiastic local residents brought their fun, informative ‘green’ activities to the Moor Park Christmas Fair earlier this month.
Stall visitors were invited to play their recycling game – Help Santa Recycle Xmas Litter. The game involved dipping into Santa’s sack and choosing where in the local community to recycle each item – home bin, large supermarket, pharmacy/optician or non-recyclable.
The game sparked lots of conversations about waste and recycling, with children often much more knowledgeable than their parents! The group also collected old specs for recycling and gave away eco products and vouchers at the stall.

A Christmas Thank You to the Eco Group
One local resident was so inspired by meeting the Eco Group at the fair that she wrote this poem. A nice reminder of the joy that community and jointly caring about our planet can bring!
At Moor Park’s festive Christmas Fair,
The Eco Group set up with care—
Green Co sheets in gentle rows,
Free samples offered, tied with bows.
They spoke of earth with mindful grace,
Of lowering waste, of giving space
For nature’s breath and brighter skies,
For wiser hearts and open eyes.
They taught us how to sort and mend,
How every choice can gently bend
Our planet’s path toward healing light,
Their passion warm, their message bright.
Crowds gathered round to learn and cheer,
Their energy drew people near;
Each conversation kind and true,
A spark of green in every view.
And with great heart they raised support
For Mount Vernon’s vital work—
A gift of hope, a community’s stand,
A gesture woven hand-in-hand.
We’re grateful for the joy they shared,
For all the ways they showed they cared—
A festive day made greener, too,
Because of everything they do.
